TEAM in TIKBIT

Things I know to be true was full of every aspect of TEAM. I feel that tension was almost a constant over the course of the show, with very brief comedic or other breaks. Whenever one of the children have their dramatic scene in which we find out about the given hardship in their life, the tension between them and the parents is extremely intense. There is a huge variety of emotion during the show. We get to see this family dynamic and I think that when we are able to relate to something we can experience the emotions on a more profound level. Sadness might have been the most prevalent emotion throughout the show but there were definitely some heart felt moments too. I think that the atmosphere of the show changed multiple times. In a literal sense, there were the season changes. I think that using the season changes to show a passage of time sort of cleared up the atmosphere that had developed in a past scene. Lastly, I think that the meaning of the show was that there are always...

Things I know to be True

I really liked the play overall, but there were some things that I thought were a little over the top. I know it's meant to be dramatic, but I feel that having each of the kids go through some sort of painful scenario made it a little predictable and I would have liked it better if it wasn't quite so plotted out like that. Also some fights seemed to come out of nowhere that didn't make sense to me. One scene I found particularly interesting was when the dad found out about the money she stowed away and she ended up not loving him anymore. I guess I wasn't expecting it because those two seemed to have the strongest relationship. Another scene that I found interesting and also just liked was at the end when Rosie repeated the monologue with the making a list of things I know to be true that she said near the began after her heartbreak. I thought that was a great way to end the show and it sort of tied everything together.

Response to video clips

So from doing some surface research I found that the frantic assembly is a unique physical theatre company. They have a distinctive style and have been a well know international group for almost 30 years. The first video I watched was just of a guy trying to slide a chair perfectly to a table from a good distance; I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of this activity was but maybe to improve precision. The second clip was five people lifting a woman into the air in a standing position and then bringing her into a crowd surfing position finally letting her execute a summersault over somebodies back onto the ground. The last video was of a choreographed dance sort of thing that involved a lot of fluid motion involving those same five people. There was a woman in the middle who seemed to be the center point around which the other people moved.
