Reflection on Peers

I really enjoyed both doing this activity myself, but also seeing my peers each with there own unique take on the project. What really stood out to me was how truly different everyone's act was. I feel like Jacksons was the perfect one to start with because it was a fun song with a effective and simple dance. I also feel like it was a sort of ice breaker and made everyone comfortable. And then we had Kam's which was an awesome song and an interesting dance that really correlated with the song. Osage's also really stood out to me because of how elegant it was.

Reflection on the Past Two Weeks

Over the past two weeks and during the process of going through different viewpoints I feel like I have learned a lot about how I myself operate doing various activities. When we started off and were just walking around the black box I wasn't really sure what I was doing, but as we went on and added different levels I became somewhat comfortable with myself. At first I wasn't really sure what my neutral was, but on the first day as we walked at a variety of speeds, I figured out what it is for me. I feel like you normally don’t think about how you're walking in a given moment, but now I am able to consciously walk normally. It was also fun when I was able to observe how everyone else participated in the activities. I liked watching people each do their own unique acts and then maybe building on their ideas. I also thought that it got a lot more interesting when lights were introduced. Each different color meant a different thing. For me each color almost se...

Walking the Space

I thought that this activity was really interesting in the way it made me reflect on myself. It was difficult to walk in neutral because I don’t usually think about how I am walking in a given situation. I also like the stop start part and the way we sort of each added to a whole pattern. I thought going up the stairs and adding another level was something we didn’t talk much about but that also added a different aspect. Overall I felt that it was actually a really helpful activity to sort of understand different ways of using a space and yourself in that space.

Previous Theater Experience

I don’t have a ton of theater experience, but I did play a lead role in my ninth grade play at my old school. I also participated in our eighth grade play but I had a fairly minor role. In ninth grade our play was The Miser, by Molière. I ended up with the role of Valere, who has the opening scene and is the second largest role. I also had theater class on and off every other year since kindergarten in which we played theater games and had to do some small acting. I think that my strengths in theater are my acting skills. I think I’m at least a little charismatic. My weaknesses are that I don’t love memorizing lines and also I do have some stage fright. This year I have some specific growth goals that I would like to reach. First off I just want to broaden my knowledge of theater in general, and learn some more of the basic ins and outs of acting, but I also want to get better at working as a group with others and really learning to work with other people to create a scene. Those...

Memorable Moment

I remember when I saw harry potter on broadway and they turned on the black lights and the whole theater was cool covered in writing and it was glowing so that was pretty sick. It wasn’t just on stage it was on every surface even the ceiling.
