Reflection on the Past Two Weeks

Over the past two weeks and during the process of going through different viewpoints I feel like I have learned a lot about how I myself operate doing various activities. When we started off and were just walking around the black box I wasn't really sure what I was doing, but as we went on and added different levels I became somewhat comfortable with myself. At first I wasn't really sure what my neutral was, but on the first day as we walked at a variety of speeds, I figured out what it is for me. I feel like you normally don’t think about how you're walking in a given moment, but now I am able to consciously walk normally. It was also fun when I was able to observe how everyone else participated in the activities. I liked watching people each do their own unique acts and then maybe building on their ideas. I also thought that it got a lot more interesting when lights were introduced. Each different color meant a different thing. For me each color almost set the mood and the vibe of the activity. When it was red, I felt like it was more violent and people pulled out finger guns and there were more duels. Blue sort of felt more somber, but also free somehow. And when it was green I felt like it was more natury and peaceful. One day I distinctly remember was when we had Kam sit in the middle and you had us walk around him. When I first stomped as we began walking around him, it was honestly an accident, but after the first I decided to keep it going and when we slowly got closer I sped up. I think it was an intense experience for everyone, I know it was for me. The other day that stands out to me is more recently, when we went outside on the steps. Previously, we had been confined to the black box so as we ventured outside and had so much freedom it opened up a new variety of doors. There were new aspects surrounding all of it, with the sounds of wind going through leaves, the new space to venture around, and also the random people who occasionally walked by. I think that our work on viewpoints really showed me a view on theatre and myself that I hadn’t thought about, and it was an eye opening experience.
